The Guyu sacrifice to the sea in Rongcheng is a folk activity for Rongcheng coastal fishermen to pray for the protection of gods. It is an ancient form of sacrifice that continues to this day. From the initial Abstract sacrifice to the sea in nature, it has gradually evolved into the sacrifice to the Dragon King and the goddess of the sea in the East China Sea. Every year on the day of Guyu in the lunar calendar, Rongcheng coastal fishermen spontaneously organize sea sacrifice activities. The fishermen take the whole pig dressed in red and white after slaughtering, coloring and makeup, and the specially steamed Rongcheng big cake as tribute to worship the sea dragon king to pray for good weather and a full cabin of fish and shrimp. The Rongcheng municipal Party committee and the Rongcheng municipal government decided to hold the Rongcheng fishermen's Festival - the first Rongcheng fishermen's festival in the name of the municipal government every year during the traditional Guyu Festival, starting from 1991, in order to comply with the fishermen's wishes, meet the fishermen's desire for cultural life, and enhance cultural exchanges at home and abroad.
